The Knowledge Loom
|
In October 1998, the United States Department of Education
assigned resources to the Northeast and Islands Regional Educational
Laboratory at Brown University to develop a "...sustainable,
customer-driven, distributed repository/database of information on
best practices in teaching and learning." Realizing that a
"repository" was not enough, Knowledge Loom — a comprehensive
electronic environment that moves from information delivery to
information creation, from data to people, from a learning library
to a learning community -- was created. The content and discussions
on the Knowledge Loom are public and open for anyone to read. Anyone
may also join the Knowledge Loom community as a registered user.

| The Web Quest Page
|
This site is designed to serve as a resource to those who are
using the WebQuest model to teach with the Web. By pointing to
excellent examples and collecting materials developed to communicate
the idea, teachers experimenting with WebQuests will be able to
learn from each other.
A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in
which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from
the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus
on using information rather than looking for it, and to support
learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and
evaluation. The model was developed in early 1995 at San Diego State
University by Bernie Dodge and Tom March. http://webquest.sdsu.edu/

giving teachers hands-on use of the program, the tutorial was
refined and enhanced to address those things which would help
teachers use the Internet in their classroom. http://www.webteacher.org/windows.html
