Where can I locate basic information about information technology accessibility?

Accessible Information Technology in Education (AccessIT) This organization provides information and support to students with disabilities. AccessIT is located at the University of Washington and their projects are funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) of the U.S. Department of Education. This site includes accessibility checklists, best practices, frequently asked questions, links to resources and case studies.

Southeast DBTAC Accessible IT in Education Portal This portal is one of ten Regional Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers (DBTACs) funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), a division of the U.S. Department of Education. They are located at the Georgia Tech Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access (CATEA) in Atlanta, Georgia. What are the information technology accessibility laws?

Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Standards  

These standards are part of section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998. These standards require that Federal agencies make all electronic and information technology accessible to persons with disabilities, "unless an undue burden would be imposed on the agency."

Federal and State Legislation Regarding Accessible Instructional Materials

This is a policy document by Erica S. Perl that gives the legislative history of the laws regarding accessibility. It is located at CAST, Center for Applied Special Technology.
