In Title, Author, Publisher/Producer, or Series fields, the database will retrieve any instance of the exact letter combination within that field (e.g., adl will retrieve adler and sadler in the Author field). Award-winning illustrators can be searched as keywords. (Note: Not all illustrators are included as keywords.) Autobiographies are searched by keyword; biographies are searched within subject areas. Subject areas correspond to the North Carolina curriculum areas. Further explanations of these areas can be found by clicking under the Subject Areas field of the search form. Names used as keywords can be searched by last name, first name (i.e., Hughes, Langston).
